Institute of Eurodemocracy

The Institute of Eurodemocracy is the political foundation/ think-tank affiliated to the Democratic Rally Party (Cyprus), a member of the EPP family. It was founded in 1999, before Cyprus became a member of the European Union, with the aim of promoting European ideals and values as well as the European concept of good governance, the rule of law and democratic process.

Subsequent to Cyprus’ accession to the European Union it continues to promote democratic dialogue and the proper functioning of a democratic society. More specifically it aims to inform citizens and promote the exchange of ideas with leading figures of the European Union through the organization of conferences, seminars and discussions.In addition, the Institute provides assistance and consultation to the Democratic Rally Party on issues relating to policy making on EU affairs.

The Institute of EuroDemocracy has a regular interaction and cooperation with similar Institutions such as the “Konrand Adenauer Stiftung” and the “Institute of Constantinos Karamanlis” in Greece. Furthermore, the Institute of EuroDemocracy is a member of both the European Network of Political Foundations and the Centre for European Studies.

The Institute for Eurodemocracy Glafcos Clerides is run by its President, Ms Katie Cleridou ( Former MP in Cyprus) and a 15-member governing board.
