Celebrating the Earth’s Day, in the past day 22 of April, in Lisbon, the Res Publica Foundation, the Institute of Studies for the Development and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation had been joined to organize a debate about Energy and Sustenainability.

The first training seminar open to representatives of all ENoP member organisations will take place in Wendgräben/Germany on 27-29. April. Issue: "Instruments and Thematic Programmes of the EU in Democracy Promotion and Development Dooperation"

Petyo Kanev will be the first ENoP intern. Mr Kanev helds a master degree in International Economic Relations and a post-degree qualification in Political Managment. He is active in the ENoP member organisation "Institute for Social Integration", a politcal foundation in Bulgaria which is close to the PSE group in the European Parliament.

The first edition of the publication "ENoP Quarterly" was sent to stakeholders in democracy promotion and development cooperation as well as to representatives of the European Institutions in this field. Four times a year "ENoP Quarterly" will be present selected examples of activities, projects and experiences from the worlwide work of our member foundations.

The European Development Days EDD 2009 will take place in Stockholm on 23-26 October. ENoP will participate and plans to hold it´s General Assembly in this context.

Related to the co- financing of the European Union on 17 - 18 March an orientation seminar for representatives of network member organisations was held in Brussels: "The ENoP project - how our members can benefit."

Two applicants were accepted as new ENoP members:

Zaklada Hrvatskog Drzavnog Zavjeta, the Satehood Pledge Foundation from Croatia operates on the basis of Christian Democratic principles.

Fundacao Res Publica was founded in summer 2008. It is based in Lisbon and is close to the social democratic party in Portugal.

During the first days of February representatives of the consortium for the EU funding participated in an inception and managment workshop.

On January 2009 the ENoP project "Non State Actors and Local Authorities in Development" has started. Co-funded for three years by the European Commission the project aimes at the impact of European development cooperation, democracy promotion and political dialogue.

ENoP participated in the European Development Days 2008 in Strasbourg with the exhibition of best practice projects of its members.
