ENoP high-level panel at the EDD

Rama Naidu, the South African representative of ENoP, played an important role in the high-level panel ‘Do Europeans care about the rest of the world?’ The director of the Democracy Development Programme/ Durban stressed the necessity to have uncomfortable questions posed. With a dose of self-irony, he introduced himself as the ‘voice of the South’, while reminding that development education must not stay a European internal issue only.

Among the participants in the panel were: Angelo Baglio/ Europe Aid, Franziska Keller/ MEP, Rilli Lappalainen/CONCORD board member, Helmuth Hartmeyer/ Austrian Development Agency, Spencer Henson/ Institute of Development studies. The panellists at the discussion stated that development policies were not enough, but responsible and engaged Europeans were also needed to build up a just and sustainable world. The event concluded with the announcement of the World Aware Education Award.
