Andreas Papandreou-Institute for Strategic and Development Studies

ISTAME-Andreas Papandreou is the affiliated think tank of PASOK (Greece’s Socialdemocratic Party). It was founded in 1995 and aims at developing and promoting progressive policy strategies and proposals in order to enhance socialdemocratic thinking among opinion leaders and citizens while addressing contemporary challenges in close cooperation with PASOK and other political and scientific Institutes.
Currently, it is involved in three thematic fields of study: 1. European and International relations 2. Socioeconomic issues 3. Public Administration-institutions and policies.
Τhe main activities include hosting events designed to promote participatory democracy and social solidarity spirit such as conferences, public dialogue panels, brainstormings, seminars in addition to issuing of policy and position papers and research studies on Greek, European and International crucial questions, joint research projects with independent domestic and international political and research institutes. Furthermore, ISTAME has involved in networks of think tanks and established ties with think tanks affiliated to the member parties of the European Socialist Party (PES).
