During the last Bi-Monthly Internal Workshop, held in Brussels last Monday 15th of March, ENoP Network established 5 internal Working Groups.
Politicians from European, North American, African and Asian countries launched the Parliamentary Forum of the Community of Democracies on 12 March in Vilnius, thus aiming to strengthen democratic traditions in their own countries and all around the world.
The stabilization of Afghanistan remains a major international challenge even eight years after launching the operation “Enduring Freedom” in November 2001. Following repeated policy and strategy changes after the take‐over of the new US administration in January 2009, the Western community has now shifted its focus to strengthen overnment capabilities within Afghanistan so that Afghan institutions themselves can achieve ‘responsiblesovereignty’ and take over increased responsibility in a mid‐term perspective.
The European Network of Political Foundations (ENoP) is seeking for its secretariat a fulltime intern (3 – 6 months) to support the European-funded project “Strengthening internal and external communication and cooperation of political foundations from EU-Member-States in Development Cooperation and Democracy Promotion”. The internship is part of the capacity building measures for ENoP member organisations, i.e. any applicant should beconnected to an ENoP member organisation. The position will be based in Brussels.
As President Barroso’s new team starts its term, Andris Piebalgs holds the significant development portfolio within EU foreign policy and will have to work closely with the new foreign affairs chief, Catherine Ashton, and the international cooperation, humanitarian aid and crisis response Commissioner, Kristalina Georgieva.

Founded in 1993, the Johannes Mihkelson Centre is based in Tartu and operates according to the principles of the Social Democratic Party.The ENoP Steering Committee has approved the Centre as new member on its meeting of the 11th January.

The EU as the world largest donor provides a considerable number of instruments in external actions to develop and consolidate democracy and the rule of law, respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms.The ENoP conference on 1 December, two weeks after the adoption of the Council Conclusions on Democracy Support in the ‘EU´s External Relations – gave the opportunity for assessments and reflections related to the Agenda for Action which should be implemented in 2010.
THe ENoP Public Conference will deal with the the resulting conclusions on Democracy Support in the EU’s External Relations of the 2974th EXTERNAL RELATIONS Council meeting in Brussels, 17 November 2009
