ENoP at the Conference "EU Citizens' rights - the way forward", 1/2 July 2010 - Brussels

Julie Cantalou, from the Liberal Catalan Foundation CatDem, ENoP Member, attended on behalf of ENoP this 2 days conference, which was the culmination of the first consultation phase of the newly created DG Justice.

All contributions to the consultation and research will be published in a report on EU Citizens’ Rights in October 2010, similar to the last report on Citizenship (COM 2008 85).

Ms Viviane Reding, Commissioner of Justice and vice-president of the Commission, has defined 4 important topics that structure the consultation and the conference:

  1. “Eliminating obstacles – how to make citizens’ rights a concrete reality”
  2. “Free movement – the challenges ahead”
  3. “Consular protection – how to guarantee better safeguards for EU citizens abroad”
  4. “Enhancing the democratic life of the Union”
