ENoP participation in EEAS consultation on Tunisia, Egypt and the wider region

Representatives of six ENoP member organisatons coming from Germany, Italy and the Netherlands participated today in the first consultation with civil society organisations on Tunisia, Egypt and the wider region, organised by the EEAS. The results are supposed to feed into a high level taskforce which provides input for discussions at the Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) of 21 February.

Referring to their decades of expertise in the region the representatives of Political Foundations from Europe highlighted the importance to acknowledge the difference of the countries and to include a wide range of actors in the dialogue and training programmes. Assistance in drafting a legal framework for political parties, trainings for judges, assistance in building a data base for court rulings and the introduction of fellowships for students were among the ENoP recommendations for EU co- funded actions in Tunisia. The other three CSO platforms attending the meeting were CONCORD, EPLO and HRDN.
