Green Economics Institute announces its conference "Women as social and economic airbags and how they bear the brunt of the effects of the economic crisis"
The conference will explore the Green Economic aspects of gender inequalities, unequal pay, the glass ceiling and the gender distribution of resources and capital and current gender-based issues. Womens inclusion in the education system, economics, academic publishing, labour market and decision making process. Women have been the forgotten element in the effects of the current economics crisis but have been extremely influential in for example the uprisings and revolutions in several unexpected countries.
The specific outcomes of this conference will be to increase women\s power, role, participation and visibility in publishing, books and journals and editing, and in economics as a profession and in policy making both as actors and as beneficiaries as a target group for the effects of economics and social policies.
On 20th May conference will take place from 10:00 till 18:00 in Reading International Solidarity Centre, in Reading town centre.
The second day, 21st May, will take place at the Green Economics Institute in Theale, Berkshire, Reading
