The Netherlands

The Alfred Mozer Stichting is the international foundation for Social Democracy, independent from but linked to the PvdA (Labour Party The Netherlands.) At the beginning of 1990 the Dutch Labour Party (PvdA) established a foundation to make and maintain contacts in Central and Eastern Europe. The foundation was named after Alfred Mozer, the first international secretary of the PvdA. The aim of the AMS is to support the development of democracy through the training and schooling of (social) democratic political parties. The AMS is a demand driven organisation sponsored by the MATRA programme of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Netherlands. Interested political parties and organisations can send in applications for projects. The AMS is not bound to any geographical restrictions. The AMS also carries out activities in The Netherlands, generally aimed at raising awareness and disseminating information about our field of work.
Motto: No Social democracy, without democracy.
The AMS is responsible for running the secretariat of the European Forum for Democracy and Solidarity. Arjen Berkvens is the acting secretary general.
